FAQ

1. Please remind your research participants that the power switch is a slider, NOT a button.

2. The light indicates charging status and does NOT illuminate when the device is on, as the headband is also designed for sleep studies.

3. Proper sensor-skin contact is crucial for accurate brainwave (EEG) measurement. Please watch the following video to become familiar with the best practice of wearing the headband.

1. Open the Enchanted Wave mobile app and press the headband icon in the top-right corner.

2. Slide the power switch all the way to the "On" side. Choose "Wave-1" from the available device list.

Note:

• Please do NOT attempt to "pair" the headband with the mobile device in the phone's "Setting" menu.

• Make sure there is only one Enchanted Wave mobile app running. Enchanted Wave has 3 mobile apps: Recorder, SleepCue and NeuroGoal. If you have downloaded more than one, please use the multitask view to terminate all the Enchanted Wave apps and restart the one you plan to use.

• Make sure there is only one mobile device in the vicinity running an Enchanted Wave mobile app. If there are more than one device with the app installed, please terminate all instances except the one you plan to use.

• If the headband was previously connected to a mobile device, it may not appear on the device list of other mobile devices. To connect the headband to a new phone, please turn off the headband while the first phone is powered off, then turn the headband back on to connect to the new phone.

• In some Android phones, you may be prompt for a "Location" access during the app installation. You need to grant/authorize it. Otherwise, the headband name "Wave-1" will not appear in the "Available devices" list.

Troubleshooting: If there is no “Wave-1” in the available device list, follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure your headband is charged.

2. Turn off the headband.

3. On the mobile APP, press the headband icon in the top-right corner. From the available devices list, choose a sample data (such as "Sample - Alpha wave"). And press the headband icon in the top-right corner again.

4. Turning on the headband by sliding the switch button "all the way" to the "On" position firmly. (You should feel 2 "clicks".)

5. If the “Wave-1” appears in the "Available device" list, select it and wait for 30 seconds for the initial transmission handshake to complete and for the signal to show up.

6. If the “Wave-1” isn't in the "Available device" list, check your power switch: (1) Connect the headband to a proper power source, turning on/off the headband should change the illumination status of the charging light; (2) When you slide the power switch on, you should feel 2 clicks -- one in the middle, and another one all the way at the end.

7. If your headband power switch doesn't work properly as described above, or the switch nob is sunk into the processor box, you can use this link to diagnose and repair it.
